Julia, Ally, Nana - Head Designer Industry

Nana Sananikone may be one of the most creative people I have met in a while! Her brand Industry decided to launch footwear a couple of years ago and is already making great strides. Not many designers are able to make the transition from clothing to footwear quite as easily as Nana has. In fact, Industry has already won multiple awards for creativity, design and as a company for their charitable efforts. Ally and I met Nana and Industry’s Brand Manager, Silvia Gallo at Magic. We ended up talking to them longer than anyone else at the show, and we visited them twice… They are awesome!! Their booth at Magic made us feel like we were shopping in a little boutique and we felt like we could hang out all day. Their whole team was  fun to talk to. Thanks to Paul for taking the picture and making sure we all were looking our best!  Nana is the Head Designer for the brand and I really enjoyed hearing some of the ways she tries to make a difference. She believes in not wasting anything, so all of the extra materials they have are used to create other items. For example the extra lining from a jacket was used to make a handbag!  

Both Nana and Silvia told a great story and the passion for their brand truly showed through. They are having a great year so far, which goes to show that despite some tough times, people are still doing well and moving forward. I believe if you are doing something that you are passionate about, these times will be much easier!
