This last week on several interviews and preparing for my talk in DC in a week on the charity, I have and will continue to focus on three core elements to be successful.

1) Get of the couch. When I saw the single shoe float up on the newscast, I was sitting on the couch watching it. It bothered me and I got up and did something about it. By getting off the couch, the beginning days of the formation of Soles4Souls had begun. (getting off the couch = not being lazy and do something)

2) Positive attitude. In life you get beat up everyday with people and their agendas. You have to stay focused and positive on the cause and know that success has a price. Being positive fosters enthusiasm and trust in the people you surround yourself with.

3) Team – surround yourself with people that are smarter than you. Surround yourself with energetic, customer driven people that get it. Good people = good company.

4) Have fun — While I mentioned three things, but this is very important. You have to have fun in whatever you do. Life is too short.
