Jose from Brown Shoe Needs a Raise and a Promotion!

Jose Cruzado of Brown Shoe
I was wandering around SMOTA today wondering who I would meet and find interesting. Since I have friends at Brown Shoe I decided to walk into their booth and check things out. I met Jose which turned out to be a truly delightful experience. Jose is the rep in Latin America for the lines Via Spiga, Franco Sarto and Etienne Aigner. I asked him why he was in the business and he told me it’s because he loves fashion and this career provides him the opportunity to stay in touch with everything that goes on. He also told me he loves women’s shoes… I am pretty sure he meant selling them, not wearing them, haha. Jose offered this advice to those having a tough time out there: “Don’t get discouraged, keep searching for new opportunities because they will arrive, and use your friends (love it) in the industry because they will be willing to help.”
We also had an interesting conversation about what happens to the samples once reps are done with them and he informed me that they are usually thrown out. I am thinking there is a better way. If you have any ideas, let’s hear them!!
Jose has been in the industry for 20 years, 4 of which have been with Brown. He has traveled all over the world, and the next article you will see from him will be about the top 5 most interesting people he has met in his career. Should be great!!
Thanks Jose… as I said today, you need a raise and a promotion!!!

Perhaps a specially promoted online sale with proceeds going directly to charity – benefitting not only the company in the form of positive marketing, but also the charity and most importantly the recipients of help by said charity? The limited sample size(s) and alterations for display purposes might be an issue, but surely there’s something positive that can be done with the “leftovers”.
