Congrats to the French brand Arche who is celebrating their 40th anniversary. According to THIS ARTICLE on FN Arche has been doing quite well in recent years, even in the US which accounts for 20% of their business. Based in France, they are also sold in Greece, England, the Netherlands and Canada. Building a strong foundation and knowing your niche is the formula for success…and we wish them much more!
Amazingly people are already lining up for Kanye West’s new shoe he designed for Nike and it doesn’t even go on sale until Saturday! The shoe cost’s $300 each but that isn’t stopping the sneaker junkies from getting theirs. The shoe is named Air Yeezy…kind of silly if you ask me! I hope they are super cool and worth every penny. I guess die hard shoe fans will still spend money on their favorite kicks no matter what the economy is like. This is great news for Ubiq the shoe store in Philadelphia that is carrying the line. Check the entire ARTICLE from www.philly.com.
Father and son shoe store owners, Ralph Baker Sr. and Ralph Jr. are moving their shoe store in Salisbury, NC and celebrating Ralph Sr.’s 50 years in the shoe industry. This great ARTICLE from the Salisbury Post highlights the family’s staying power in the business. When they originally opened their own business there was 8 shoe stores in the downtown area, which is now down to just them. Congrats to them on lasting in the biz for all those years and here’s to many more!!
This weekend in NYC shoppers will have the opportunity Giuseppe Zanotti as he shows his spring 2009 at Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Ave. I would so be there! In store appearances are a great way to promote sales and it will allow the customer to have a story to tell as they strut around in their new stylish footwear. I wish more designers would do the same!! For more fun events and sales in the NYC area you can visit this PAGE at www.nymag.com
