Heather Brady-Shoebizness’s #1 fan!
by JULIA
I specifically chose a ballet shoe trivia question yesterday as a thank you to Heather Brady from Brown Shoe for being our #1 fan. She is a long time ballet dancer and loves when I incroporate it into the site. She is always thinking of me and sending cool links and providing feedback on the articles and stories she likes. Case and point….yesterday I posted the video (scroll down a bit) and sent her the link. She responded shortly later with this email. We love Heather and thank her for her support!!
OMG YAAAAAYY!! I love it!
I watched the video twice and I am just going to have to watch it again. To me there is nothing more lovely than a ballerina! Wow- that was amazing! Thanks for adding a sunny moment to my day!
Thanks for thinking of me :)
Oh and by the way I couldn’t stop giggling at the trivia answer below…….too much fun. I sure am glad that didn’t happen at my wedding! A bride giving her husband a shoe so he can bop her on the head with it?
I THINK NOT!!

What part did shoes play in the Anglo-Saxon culture? According to satisfiedsole.com, in Anglo-Saxon wedding ceremonies shoes were as indispensable as the wedding ring is today. Instead of exchanging rings with her betrothed, the bride customarily passed her shoes to her husband, who then tapped her on the head with a shoe. |
I did whack my poor little bother on the head with my Pointe shoe when I was about 9- it was my first pair…I don’t think I realized how hard they were- poor thing- he cried his eyes out and I got in trouble. I never did that again!!
and as far as the answer to the trivia question, from my experience I can tell you that women wear “ballet pink” and the men typically wear white shoes, though I have seen them wear black as well
Makes me want to pirouette right here in my office!
PS-When I get to NY we are going to have to get a non-security badge photo of Heather.
Although…If I must say….it’s pretty cute!
