The daily 5, all about the good news!

five-300x1332Are you sure you are using the right shoes for exercising? There are some really smart exercise physiologists who suggest lifting weights and running in really flat shoes with minimal support and cushion. That may work for some more advanced exercisers and the relatively few runners who are very light and biomechanically perfect – however for the average person trying to be active and healthy – it is wise to invest in a good pair of running or possibly cross training shoes. Check out all that the experts have to say on this matter at EXAMINER.COM

It seems that the Air Yeezy by Kanye West already found competition. Supra shoes have become a must-have in the sneaker department when it comes to streetwear. Everyone from Lil Wayne to Samantha Ronson to Heidi Klum has been spotted with a fresh pair of Supras on, so they’ve been a success to say the least. Check them out at ballerstatus.com

Wow, this is what I call expanding in a different market. The Michelin name is well known for its tires, but the company also markets a couple of limited-edition driving shoes. The Belair is a (black or brown) leather shoe with plenty of cushioning and support where you need it most, while the Cobra (pictured) is constructed with a leather and breathable mesh upper and can be ordered in black or tan and brown. Both shoes feature a rubber compound-based tread design copied from Michelin’s Primacy MXV4 tire. The company claims its shoes provide superior traction and longevity. You can order either pair for $80 at www.michelinfootwear.com. Read more HERE

Good Job Mills Middle School!! Recently, Mills Middle School and Mitchell Middle School competed against each other for our 2nd annual Nike shoe drive. Mills and Mitchell Middle Schools had only one week to gather up as many shoes as possible! The goal of the shoe drive was to teach students the importance of recycling. When all the shoes had been gathered and counted, Mills Middle School had gathered 2,500 shoes while Mitchell Middle School only gathered 700, thus declaring Mills the winner of the shoe drive competition. Amazing concept! John Varvatos celebrated the launch of his Bowery NYC store concept at Holt Renfrew in Montreal on Wednesday, complete with a live performance by Montreal-based band The Stills. The Holt Renfrew shop-in-shop boasts vintage concert posters, album cover art and record-release flyers along the walls, and vintage Persian rugs and washed purple velvet curtains. The space, which launched at Holt Renfrew earlier this year, carries both the John Varvatos Collection and Star USA line.Check this out at WWD.COM
