I’m more than sure that by now you are all familiar with the Walk a mile in Her Shoes movement against domestic and sexual abuse. Well this is getting bigger and bigger and also international. I’m glad to hear that one of my favorite charities is getting help from “footwear friends”. Beginning May 27 and running through June 10, pediped™ Footwear will host a Purchases with Purpose fundraiser to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. During this period, select styles of both Originals and Flex shoes will be marked down. Fifty percent of sales from this fundraiser will be donated to the charity to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. “In these times, it’s more important than ever to give back to the community and bring joy to children who need it. We hope people will go online to shop, and together we can all make a difference!” pediped™ President Angela Edgeworth. Read MORE HERE!
As soon as I read this note I said: “Uhm! This sounds familiar!” Greenshoe is a company that came out of the creativity of an amazing group of laid off workers that in the middle of crisis found a way to success and also help. Funny their shoes, made of used tires, are made also in my country, which they help, but we call them Yanques. Read this cool article at ABCNEWS.COM
Totally adorable! Just like the author of this note, I was also a jelly shoe fan when I was little. But of course this new Jelly sandals are a pretty cool upgrades of the comfortable and fun cute shoes from back in the day. Holster jelly sandals are already a firm favorite with Kristy Hinze, the host of the Australian version of Project Runway. Sold in the shopping haven that is Selfridges in the UK and being branded “The Rolls Royce of Jelly Shoes” these snazzy sandals are sure to become a summer staple in America. Wanna get more familiar with what is behind a Sneaker Pimp show? How much are you willing to pay for sneakers? These “sneakerheads” (including a couple celebrities) dish all about their passion for sport shoes. Sneaker culture got its start in New York in the 1970s, mostly among playground streetballers and practitioners of an emerging genre of music called hip-hop. Over the next three decades, rappers and basketball players — most notably, Run DMC and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan — would play integral roles in boosting the popularity of rare kicks. “Run DMC were probably at the height of the whole movement. It was the first time music and sneakers crossed like this,” Peter Fahey, the mastermind behind Sneaker Pimps shoe shows, said of the group’s 1986 hit, “My Adidas.” Check this out HERE!
