International Shoes & Champagne showcased inspired creations from more than 70 international footwear designers on May 8th, 2009, at a shimmering gala benefit in support of Soles4Souls, staged in the historic Union Station Hall in Ottawa, Canada’s National Capital.   The event was in conjunction with the Canadian Tulip Festival, which celebrates international arts, culture and ideas each Spring when millions of tulips bloom in Ottawa, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors over 18 days.  “The gala was a magical and memorable celebration of the ‘international language’ of design,” said Caroline Ouimet, who originated the event. 

Over the 18 days of the Tulip Festival more than 100,000 pairs of footwear were donated to Soles4Souls, which distributes footwear to destitute children and their families in more than 125 countries.  “This was a very concrete example of ‘international friendship’, which was the founding theme of the Tulip Festival more than 50 years ago,” added Ouimet.   The anchor event was the spectacular gallery showcase of samples from dozens of designers from 10 countries.  “It was a wonderful expression of fashion in support of social purpose, and we are grateful to and proud of all the designers who joined in this worthwhile cause,” said Ouimet.

INDUSTRY, a Canadian leader in the fashion world, showcased their designs decorated with origami tulips, tying into the theme of the Festival. INDUSTRY’s designs are very original, colorful and bold.  They shined amongst the worlds most beautiful and desired footwear designers.
