Lilita at SMOTA in Miami Beach, By Jorge the Intern

My first Trade Show! It was really cool and I got to meet a lot of neat people and get a lot of interesting perspective. Also, just an interesting side note, the junior Olympic tryouts for girls volleyball is taking place in the Miami Beach convention center at this time – hundreds of teams nationwide, pretty cool. But anyway, The showroom is full of people and there are plenty of new faces on the scene.

One particular new face is Lilita Shoes. It has been in business for about a year and a half and have the neatest shoes5 that you can imagine. It was started by two sisters: Carolina Lopez, the fashion one who lives in China with husband, and Francia Lopez, The partner who lives in Los Angeles. They have been doing great in New York and California, and are doing a big push to hit more east coast shops with their awesome sales director Carlos J. Gavilanes. Personally, I have to say he was the coolest guy at the show, and he also mentioned a distinct aspect of Lilita shoes; they package most of their shoes in boxes of eight instead of twelve to eighteen as most other shoe companies do. “We did this in order to help out the boutiques that have been tightened by lower sales who need to capitalize on every opportunity. Nobody wants to have shoes they can’t sell. But who can’t sell 8 pairs!?”, remarked Carlos.

4Lilita sells everything from flats, slippers, high heels, and boots – and what style too! I was really intrigued by the black and red one, which Carlos said was their best selling shoe, and really impressed by all the different patterns and designs that they had ornately included to turn something from one style to another with a single article. And just for kicks, I like how they have the puckered lipstick mark as their logo on the shoes, I thought that was appealing.

I hope to see more of these shoes in the future and I am really excited about them, just for the fact that I like to see family working together and new styles coming out and breaking the ice and becoming successful. They are expanding quickly and are looking for mainstream clients who sell to the high-end markets. They have the look and the price, and I’m sure many women will be wearing these in the near future!
