Every month, I produce a fashion show for an event called Sunset Rendez Vous at the Setai hotel here on South Beach. My most recent show was this past Saturday and it was extra special for a few reasons. First, one of my closest friend’s Jenni Gordon is preparing to open a vintage boutique here in Miami called Fashion Showcase. What’s amazing about her store, is that it will be non-profit and the money the boutique generates supports up and comers in the art and fashion industries. The foundation was started by her grandmother, Lauren Ancher who has an amazing history as a former Ford model, socialite, designer and fashion columnist. She spent years collecting clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry and kept it all until now. She donated her entire life’s wardrobe collection to Jenni as a gift to help her in her efforts to open a store. I am talking vintage Christian Dior hats and YSL swimsuits dating back to the 1930′s. I die a little bit every time I go to the store which consists of 4 rooms and every one of them is jam packed full of little treasures for any fashion lover and the entire store is Jenni’s grandmother’s history!!

As Jenni is approaching the opening of her store, it was a no brainer for me to choose her as the designer/store I chose to work with for my recent event. I selected a line of vintage silk garments dating back to the 1930′s. I had about 75 pieces to start with and had to narrow it down to 30. I was completely overwhelmed with excitement as I began to style the show. To top it off, she has these amazing hats that you just have to see to believe. I had so much fun and I knew the show would be amazing.

Magy Fontao, who is the PR Director for Mia Shoes based here in Miami, kindly donated multiple styles of shoes for me to use in the show. This is the second time that Mia has sponsored a charity event of mine and I am so thankful. The shoes fit in perfectly with the designs and really added a great touch to the show. I love Mia’s designs because they are fun and well made, but very affordable. The models always love wearing the shoes and never complain about the comfort.

I would also like to thank Sofi Salon here on South Beach for doing the hair. Wendy Alexis is the co-owner and my close friend and she is so awesome to show up and support me every month. Jennifer Osorio, who is also a friend of mine, did all the makeup and Jenna Waksman deserves a big thank you as my assistant stylist. All the girls were amazing and we had such a great time!
