heels.com and my home town!!
by JULIA
Linda McCoy, co-founder of heels.com…..hard at work and check out those shoes!!
I remember first coming across heels.com last year as I was searching for a very specific pair of shoes that I needed for an event I had coming up. I realized the site was new and immediately added it to my favorites list. What I liked about the site as a consumer was that it was simple, well designed, easy to navigate, visually appealing and had detailed images of the shoes. I have seen the site grow over the past year and a half, but all this time I had no idea that the corporate offices were in my beloved hometown of Charlotte, NC….that is until two weeks ago when I found a L.A.M.B. video that I posted for the video of the day. I loved the idea of presenting the shoes to shoppers so that they can see them on a foot at all angles. The video, like the site is clean, well done, simple and visually appealing. This prompted me to do a little investigating and as I read through the “about us” page I realized that they were located in Charlotte!!
I was able to contact them and ended up speaking with Linda McCoy who is the co-founder along with her husband, Eric. Linda was working in PR for Neiman Marcus and her husband owned a couple of online retail sites when they decided to put their heads together for a new business and that’s when the concept for heels.com was born. They were able to snag the domain name through some tough negotiation and soon after booked a flight to their first trade show. Unfortunately, it was not easy for them to gain acceptance right off the bat, especially with the flurry of shady online sites that have gone up, but they did not give up and they continued to beat down the doors. They decided the best road to take would be to set up a mock site that they could show to potential vendors so they could understand the concept and it worked!!
The team hard at work!!
They only launched 20 months ago and since then their business and their inventory has tripled!! They are making their way in an economy where others are falling to the wayside. When I spoke with Linda, I found a person with a similar attitude as mine. An optimistic, go getter who is just doing what she loves and it makes sense. She believes in building a solid foundation and sticking to what works. She wants her lady shoppers to know that when they are in need of any pair of heels, they can go to her site and find exactly what they are looking for without having to browse through a bunch of stuff they don’t want. It’s working!! The icing on the cake is that they are bringing a wonderful fashion element to the city of Charlotte and I know it is proud! Their offices are located right in the heart of “uptown” charlotte in an old grocery store that Linda and her husband remodeled. I love it!! I am due for a trip back to see the family and CANNOT wait to visit their offices and meet Linda and her team. I originally connected with Suleika Acosta who I believe handles PR and Marketing….she was super cool and I am so happy I met these ladies….not to mention they are sponsoring my fashion show coming up on the 19th and provided me with 4 pairs of amazing shoes. So exciting!!

They are currently looking to add new brands to their growing inventory, so if you are interested, please contact them at: 1-866-33-HEELS. As a designer or a rep, I would be all over this opportunity!! I have a feeling this site is going to be wildly successful and I am so proud that they are based in the Queen City!!! You will hear more about them soon…I can promise you that!!
