Dina Lohan’ shoe line for Mother’s Day

According to WWD, Dina Lohan (the proud mom of Lindsay) announced last week she will launch a collection of footwear for “hot moms” just in time for Mother’s Day. “Some of the heels Lindsay gives me, I’m like, ‘I can’t wear that,’” Dina Lohan said of the 5-inch stilettos her daughter sports. “It’s kind of cheesy for a mom. I’m not a 23-year-old!” The collection, temporarily named “Shoe-han” while Lohan brainstorms on a definitive one, is a collaboration with Long Island, N.Y.-based retailer Love My Shoes and will debut with about 35 styles of flats and heels, all priced below $100. But until her line hits the market, Lohan said she’ll rely on her own wardrobe of Gucci, YSL and Prada shoes, as well as selected styles she finds in Lindsay’s, and even younger daughter Ali’s, closets. “We’re all the same size,” she said. “It’s so nice.” As long as she’s not walking bare foot, right

Philip Treacy for Valentino

Hat designer Philip Treacy‘s first shoe project ever debuted at the Valentino show this week. On the shift: “I am usually working on the head and then to move to the foot is a whole other dimension. You can’t have the same fragility, because models walk like racehorses and kick them together. And then something very delicate is in tatters — but actually, it looks quite good in tatters!” saif Treacy. Sounds like if you can make gorgeous hats you can make gorgeous shoes !!

Enough with the glamour, want some governmental shoes ?

Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. was awarded a contract worth up to $6.3 million for boots suitable for cold/wet weather, the Pentagon said late Wednesday. The company based in Illinois will perform some of the work in Arkansas. The Defense Logistics Agency contracted the work for orders by the Army, Navy and Air Force. This contract is exercising a second option year period and is set for completion Oct. 7, 2010. Belleville Shoe Manufacturing, led by President Eric Weidmann, is a maker of U.S. specification military boots. It reported $90 million in revenue in 2008 and is on track to post nearly $100 million in 2009, according to Weidmann.
