ASICS Set to Open First Flagship Store in New York City
According to EarthTimes, ASICS will be opening their first flapship store in the city that never sleeps. This is great for them since they have come a long way, and really New York is the place to be. ”New York is an active city in the running community which ASICS has long been a part of through our support of the ING New York City Marathon. We feel this is the perfect time and place to mark our debut as a retailer in the U.S.” says Rich Bourne, President and CFO.
Converse and Elton Brand Introduce the EB2 Signature Shoe
The EB2 is a follow-up signature basketball shoe from last year`s first-ever Elton Brand signature shoe, the EB1. After a successful year with the EB1, Converse again partners with JCPenney to offer an affordable performance basketball shoe for adults and kids. Jimmy Choo shoes at H&M
It is the latest ‘cheap chic’ designer collaboration for H&M, which has recently sold collections by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, and British’s Matthew Williamson. Tamara Mellon, the founder and president of Jimmy Choo, who launched the deluxe celebrity brand in 1996, said: “We are privileged to be among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M so far, and to be designing a collection appealing to fashion-savvy, street-smart women, and to be including some great pieces for men, too.” READ MORE.
Detroit Pistons donating 1,000 pairs !
According to USAToday, The Detroit Pistons are teaming up with charity to donate 1,000 pairs of new shoes and socks to kids. The team is scheduled to be on hand Tuesday to help distribute the shoes at a Detroit event. It’s part of the NBA Cares “Week of Service,” where NBA teams are giving a day of community service. The team is working with Charlotte, N.C.-based Samaritan’s Feet on the project.
Sebago Hires Gary Malamet
According to WWD, Sebago, owned by Rockford, Mich.-based Wolverine World Wide Inc., announced Tuesday that Gary Malamet joined the company as VP and GM, effective immediately. Malamet most recently worked as president of Lacoste for USA and Canada (he resigned in July). He has also served as president of the Stacy Adams brand at Weyco Group Inc., and has held positions at Kenneth Cole footwear.
