FFANY RE-CAP
by Tara Bodt
Like a dumb dumb I forgot to take any pics of Tara and her crew even though I had my camera with me….so no visuals on this one, but I must say that I really enjoyed my time hanging out with Tara and her father Jonathan. Their line looked great and it seems that they had a good show. To no surprise Tara has an opinion on the shows for the month of February and also to no surprise, RW has opted for a FFANY/MAGIC combo. I think this will be pretty common and I am excited to see the new show! I love trade show season….this industry is full of wonderful people if you are looking in the right places! I am so happy I met Tara at the 210 Young Professionals meeting back in June.

FFANY RE-CAP
I know it’s a little late in the game, but I just wanted to write a quick re-cap from Ffany, where Robert Wayne showed at the Hilton. I am happy to say that we had a good show; appointments showed and the new line was well received. It helped that the weather wasn’t horrible this go around, I assure you, it won’t be that nice in February. Although the walk by traffic for Men’s independents was not the strongest, I do foresee it improving, especially if FFANY takes over WSA.
I am anxious to see the results in February, being that FFANY and WSA have the same dates. I for one, wish that we didn’t have to make a choice, but you have to go where your buyers go and they are all heading East. At this point, I don’t know of many people going to WSA, just FFany and Platform, RW included. Many people are anticipating Platform to be the next big show. I’ve seen the set up and I thought it aesthetically looked great, but more importantly made the most sense for vendors and buyers. Everyone is placed accordingly; buyers could walk around without rushing too much and see some of the trends in the apparel world, making it a productive show all around.
This show our line is starting to clean up a bit more going into Fall 2010. We were expecting customers to be reluctant about the line; however, they were the complete opposite. Everyone seemed ready for the trends to start evolving and was pleased with where we were going.
Overall a good way to end the year and I’m looking forward to doing it all over again.
Thanks,
Tara
