Whirlwind trip to NYC – FFANY and 210 Dinner
by JULIA

Me and Peggy Kim Meill right before I jetted out to the airport!

I had a great time in NYC last week and really enjoyed catching up with all my shoe friends! I didn’t even have a chance to inform many of you that I would be making an appearance up there, but fortunately I ran into a bunch of you and it was a nice surprise. :) I was on a 6am flight and immediately made my way to the Hilton once I landed. I first saw Nicole Rivers from FFANY  who scolded me for not telling her I was coming and then 2 seconds later  I ran into Wayne Elsey from Souls4Soles who as always has a million fun things going on and it was great catching up! I also stopped into Camuto Group to say hello to Jenifer Cleary and Rocket Dog to catch up with Andy Petersen…then off to Robert Wayne where I chatted with Tara and her father for a little bit. They were great!

I then made my way to the 210 dinner where my friends from Brown Shoe were nice enough to have me at their guest…they are great people and I really enjoyed hanging with them throughout the evening. I also thought it was great that after the dinner Diane and Ron took the time to personally say hello to each of their team members. They are a great crew!

The event was wonderful….I met so many great people during the cocktail hour and ran into Morgan Williams and John David Robbins who snapped a shot of me and Geoff Green for their article on Running With Heels. Click here to check it out! A big congrats to Bob Campbell who received the lifetime achievement award.  I am a fan of  his son Seth Campbell’s line, UES and it was great to him present his father with such an amazing award! I also was moved by Peggy Kim Meill,  the president of 210′s, speech. She says her words with such compassion and she is certainly someone I look up to!

I ended the evening hanging with Sheena and her crew which is always entertaining! We had a lot of fun and perhaps this trip will give Sheena some good rant material. :) She rocks!

The next day of my whirlwind trip, I stopped by Michael Kors to say hello to their Sr. Director of HR, Gretchen Mathews who is maybe the most awesome HR person I have ever met and then I was back over to Brown Shoe taking a tour with Erin Conroy which was great. I finished my trip by having a quick and VERY exciting meeting with Ross Evans of 210 (details soon!!!) and snapped my pic with Peggy  as  I ran out the door to catch my plane!

What a fun and exciting trip and I can’t wait to go back. I feel so blessed to have such amazing support in the industry and really value all my friendships! :)  Next year is going to be an amazing year…I just know it!
