Jeff Campbell is inspired by the artist Andy Warhol for these “Meow” flats. After All, Warhol was often accused of being an overly commercial and unoriginal artist. Of course there’s also the connection between Campbell’s soup and Jeff’s surname. Though again, the word Campbell isn’t spelled out on the shoe. Not that it needs to be!
Under Armour Inc. posted a strong quarterly profit, but sees growth in 2010 as it ramps up its direct-to-consumer business and makes other investments. The company, a fast-growing rival of Nike Inc. makes products touted for their moisture-wicking fabrics. Under Armor attributed most of its apparel segment’s growth during the holiday season to its direct-to-consumer business.
Tod’s is one of few luxury goods brands that experienced growth in 2009 during the global financial crisis. Chairman and Chief Executive Diego Della Valle said in a statement on Wednesday he was very happy with the results “which will reflect positively on expected profitability.” He did not comment on the year ahead. Indeed Della Vella, 2010 it’s too premature for any coment.

Columbia Sportswear Company, a global leader in active outdoor apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment today announced net sales of $358.3 million for the fourth quarter, an increase of 1 percent compared to net sales of $354.9 million for the same period of 2008. Tim Boyle, Columbia’s president and chief executive officer, commented, “Fourth quarter results were significantly better than our October outlook, primarily due to stronger than expected demand in our U.S. and international wholesale businesses.” Optimism for 2010…
