Famous Brands Shoes closes, files bankruptcy. A longtime women’s local shoe store with a big reputation for carrying shoes in hard-to-find sizes has closed, and its owner has filed a liquidation petition with U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Eldon R. Miller, owner of Famous Brands Shoes, filed a personal Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition Jan. 8. The store featured Helle Comfort, Clark’s, Keds and other brands.
