Leah Vixamar

I met Ddana King the founder and owner of Leah Vixamar through Julia of course. Julia met her down in Miami through a friend and Ddana actually designed custom shoes for her fashion show back in December. Julia and her instantly hit it off and meeting her I can see why. They both have an amazing ambition and are not afraid to follow their dreams.  Everyone has heard the story of the dedicated professional that spent years to gain a respected position but once they got there, they decide to give it up to pursue their love.  Well, this is one of those stories. Ddana King  gained a BS in Biology with hopes of continuing on to medical school when she realized her dream to become a shoe designer.  She worked so hard and luckily  she found her way into Platform to show her first line and SHOEBIZNESS was there to share the experience. Ddana is an amazing storyteller and just hearing how she started making custom shoes out of Fort Lauderdale is an inspiration in itself. After success with custom shoes, she decided to launch her own brand in 2008. The first step was finding a supplier that could match her required quality level in materials, fit and finish. She also focused on comfort and put a lot of padding and excellent, soft leather into each shoe. Once she put all the peices of the puzzle together, she was ready to hit the ground running!

Last October, the first collection debuted and was a certified hit! With the popularity of her custom shoes, customers were excited when they found out t they could purchase a Leah Vixamar branded shoe at Nordstrom and several designer boutiques throughout FL, GA and NY. Proudly, just 18 months later, the brand is international with sales in Japan. She has done all this with her husband by her side every step of the way.

This unique collection has a signature on all the shoes, which is a Swarovski crystal on the back of each heel.  Also, details like ruffles, bows and stripes are  a major part in the designs. Ddana  likes to keep the designs ageless and mix it up with vibrant colors, “These are shoes for someone that wants to feel free and sexy in a pair of high heels that compliment not only the foot but the entire outfit.”
