The Daily Five, It’s All About the Good News!

Christian Siriano’s Spring 2010 collection that walked down the runway and retailed at Payless (http://ny.racked.com/tags/christian-siriano-for-payless). So Fierce! What will this season bring?

Welcome back after a long relaxing Labor Day weekend. For the “old-school” fashionistas out there, Labor Day is traditionally the end of white pants (does anyone still follow that rule? I do). It is usually celebrated by a BBQ with friends and family and some end of the summer fun in the sun. However, for many designers, Labor Day weekend was quite the opposite. Most fashion companies were busy preparing for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which starts this Thursday September 9. Christian Siriano, everyone’s favorite Project Runway winner, tweeted about being in fittings all weekend while vbfashionweek traced Victoria Beckham’s every step. What kind of footwear will this upcoming season’s attire inspire? Keep your eyes on the catwalk and stay tuned. For the complete schedule visit the official fashion week website.

September 16 marks the end of NYC’s fashion week and the beginning of London’s fashion week the following day. But before I get ahead of myself, I want to call your attention to Vivienne Westwood’s museum exhibition of 200 shoes at the Selfridge’s department store’s permanent arts and exhibition space in London. Westwood’s iconic shoes from 1973 to the present will be displayed until September 22. If you find yourself abroad in the next few weeks, this should be a priority on your “to-do” list. If London isn’t on your itinerary you can find more information, interviews, and pictures at Shopping Blog.

To bring it back to my home state, New Jersey, I have a mental picture that I would like to paint for you. Imagine driving your car down the road and seeing a fleet of men walking in high heels for a mile. That’s exactly what is scheduled to happen on September 25. The Passaic County Women’s Center is hosting an event to raise awareness for the growing number of domestic violence cases. Men are “going to walk a mile in my shoes” for a little role reversal. This adds a little humor to an otherwise awful situation. I’m just glad I’m not the one walking the mile. Visit the website to donate to the cause.

Typically, I’m a treadmill girl. I like to see how far I’ve run and how many calories I’ve burned. And forget running without a iPod – It just can’t be done. The new Nike+ GPS app has given me a reason to break free from the gym and spend some time outdoors this fall. And as if I didn’t already pine over the iPhone, there is now an app that lets you track your route outdoors, activate a “power song” when you need an extra push, count calories, and talk to you according to mobilemag.com! So, who wants to go on a run tomorrow morning?

Kylie Minogue has been uploading pictures of all of her favorite shoes to twitter according to idolator.com. She’s been showing off in everyone’s favorites: Christian Louboutin, YSL, Jimmy Choo, and Giuseppe Zanotti. I just can’t get these out of my head.
