Personally, I am VERY excited to hear about any Nordstrom store opening. They’ve been the answer to many of my fashion crises throughout the years. One store is set to open this spring in the Christiana Mall near me and I couldn’t be any happier. And for all of you New Yorker’s there’s hope for you as well. Nymag.com announced that Nordstrom has finally found a NYC flagship location at 350 West Broadway. The first two floors of the high-end residential building will open as Nordstrom next fall. The best part is that all earnings will be donated to nonprofits. This concept is the first of it’s kind. This unprecedented idea will be giving Bloomingdales a run for its money.

Jones Group Inc has seen better days. After a decrease in projections for this quarter, Jones still did not meet expectations according to Bloomberg.com . Total revenue will range from $3.62 billion to $3.67 billion. They operate 834 stores in North America. As a result, stocks sank 22% today on the NYSE, which is the larget drop since November 2008 with a total of 5.2% this year.

A lot can happen in 4 years – just ask Blake Mycoskie. If you don’t know his name by now, well, frankly, you should. He is the founder of TOMS shoes. The beginnings of his success story are featured on thebusinessjournal.com.  He recently presented his business plans and story of his success at the 2010 Fresno Pacific Business Forum on his charity based company. He started out at a small L.A. retailer and gained exposure through the LA Times, which resulted in a jump from 80 to 2,200 shoes ordered. Shortly thereafter, he got a phone call from Vogue, which resulted in an order from Nordstrom. The rest is history.

What 1910 shoe style that originated in Ireland and Scotland is back in vogue? The wingtip. The NyTimes.com looks at the history of the shoe and it’s comeback. Brands like Alden and Church, Wolverine work boots, Edward Green, Prada, and Gucci are buying into the style. It’s transcending all levels of brands as a favorite style in any man’s closet.

N.E.R.D. musician Pharrell Williams is venturing into a eco-friendly business deal with Timberland. As co-owner of Bionic Yarns, “ a company that creates fabrics from 50% organic cotton and 38% recycled plastic bottles” , Pharrell will partner with Timberland to create a line with more than 90 different shoes and boots. Refinery29.com says “more eco-friendly goods with tons of swagger? Yes, please!”. I agree 100%.
