Black Friday definitely has some competition. Cyber Monday sales are projected to be very high this year. There is definitely something to say for staying at home, or surfing online at work, rather than standing in line and fighting through the crowds at the mall. The overall strength of both days forecasts a strong holiday season according to The Atlantic . The overall increase in consumer spending in addition to the growing comfort with purchasing gifts online is driving the sales. The official numbers are not released yet, but we can guess that they increased about 6% to 8%. Cyber Monday hasn’t hurt Black Friday yet, but it has just been an addition to the kickoff of the gift-giving season.
Many of the deals seen over those infamous two days are being extended throughout the week. TV.com researched some of the best deals on footwear. Earlier this month, I told you about Tom Brady’s endorsement deal with Under Armour. He made the switch from Nike to the other athletic footwear brand. His newest endorsement deal is a little bit out of left field. He announced his latest endeavor with UGG. Angela Martinez, CEO of UGG parent company Deckers Outdoor explained the agreement to businessinsider.com , “We have decided that we needed to just get the word out there that it’s a brand for guys … And who better to give guys permission to wear UGG than.. Tom Brady.” Brady is definitely a “man’s man” and should elevate the brand in the male consumer’s mind.
Here’s an interesting concept you have probably never thought of before. According to cnet.com, Indonesian industrial designer Adika Titut Triyugo designed the The Foki shoe, which will let you “shoe-ver” your house. Confused? The shoe acts as a vacuum and picks up any debris on the floor as you walk. Move over Hoover, there’s a new dust buster in town.
Grey Ant and Teva are pairing up to offer a high-performance heel. Yes, Teva is the one who makes those Velcro strappy should-only-be-worn-while-doing-extreme-sports-but-are-often-seen-on-old-men-with-socks sandals. The Daily Candy reports on the construction of the shoe, “unmistakable grip-sole construction and sturdy Velcro straps — with tribal pattern, natch — have been countered with a four-inch stacked heel. They’ve been dubbed the most comfortable high-performance heels on the planet by their engineers — and pretty damn good-looking by us.”
