The Daily 5 – It’s All About The Good News
by JULIA

I am not sure if this is good news for anyone but her, but Lindsay Lohan is set to launch a footwear line for her brand 6126 now that she is out of rehab. Okay….I can’t wait to meet the sales rep who has the responsibilty of selling the new line. I am a little curious what the spin will be on Lindsay’s involvement.  I suppose she has been fashionable in moments, but I can’t really imagine that people will be flocking to the stores to buy her shoes. Either way, we wish her the best….I guess. haha

Congrats to Iconix Brand for being the top footwear company based on relative performance according to SmarTrend via zacks.com …. I honestly never would have guessed Iconix would land in the top spot with a 3.68 gain in yesterdays market….followed closely by Steve Madden, Crocs, Deckers and Skechers. Seeing the word gain is something I like to see! Let’s keep this trend going!

A Tom’s Shoes copywriter named Kellen, writes about her first shoe drop trip on the Tom’s Shoes blog yesterday. The trip was to Argentina of course and it seems she had a great time! I am such a big fan of the brand and what they do. Having been to Argentina I can only imagine the impact the company has been able to make through their contributions! Keep it up!!

Some may view this as good news, some bad, some will just say it was bound to happen….whatever your opinion on the matter the lawsuits are now starting to pour in against the leaders in the whole toning shoe craze. Boston.com is reporting today the New Balance is being sued for more than $5 million by people claiming they have been harmed by their toning shoe. I am not a fan of individuals who are sue happy and honestly as grown adults these individuals should have done their homework before buying into such a ridiculous fad… I do believe the good news is that hopefully this trend will die down a bit. I am a big fan of New Balance and I hope they will continue to focus on their core business…

Congrats to Totes Isotoner who just bought Acorn Products based out of Maine! Acorn specialized in socks, slippers and various types of other footwear and employees about 25 people. Hopefully this is good news for both companies! :)
