Comments – And the Winner Is…
by JULIA

Great to get the industries support on our article about Toms vs Bobs by Skechers ….Ken and I certainly appreciate it! :)

Hear Hear Julia,

small correction. If we dont speak up and out loud, why post at all. I do hope the main stream press (like in NYC Times, People Magazine, National Enquirer what ever trash people read) picks up the thread and encourages the general public (aka skechers wearers) to buy a genuine product for once.

And another positive, free publicity for Tom’s shoes and recognition for an initiative based on an heritage product. And I for one admire those who are not only interested in creating wealth for themselves but sharing it with the less fortunate. Not everyone is forced to walk on a leash held by stakeholders. I sincerely doubt that a giant like Skechers cares about any of us calling them a name. And if we speak out loud, why post at all…

Let’s be serious, no matter how much we hate to see an original idea so blatantly copied, Sketchers has made a living during their entire existence by taking original ideas from others and combining their production and sourcing capabilities with a nice dose of marketing and making a killing. Other companies are probably scrambling to do the same thing as we speak.

that is the same thing they did to dr martins when they first started out. It simply a matter of knowing that they can reach anotehr audience witht someone else’s product..
they tried to take our “s” logo too-and we sent a letter to cease- and showed prior usage-
Toms should have sued them- when you just roll over on this kind of thing- it keeps happening.

It is as they have always done right here in our own back yard, yet the louder voices complain about China not protecting intellectual property rights.

Julia,
Kudos to you for keeping the truth about Skechers on the front page. That organization is a disgrace to what is otherwise a fantastic industry. Hopefully retail buyers get the message.
