Lands’ End, a leading international brand of classically inspired clothing and home products, is currently looking for capable, driven Footwear Merchant to help shape the future of the organization and grow the business. Lands’ End is a multi-channel retailer offering products through specialty catalogs, the Internet and in Sears stores. As a Merchant, you are responsible for driving the merchandising strategy and delivering profitable results. You will develop and execute business strategies that align with the company vision and initiatives while partnering with key cross functional partners. You will develop concepts, key items, promotional strategies and assortments that are brand right and aligned with the Lands’ End customer. You will be responsible for leading a team and driving your area of responsibility through the product development process while delivering newness and innovation to the assortment. Specific responsibilities include financial planning, bottom line profit and loss, development of new product, and evaluation of existing styles. You will work closely with Design, Creative, Global Sourcing, Inventory Planning and Marketing to deliver profitable results.
Successful candidates should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
•5-8 years of specialty retail experience; multi channel brand experience is a plus.
•Acute awareness of market trends (trend forecasting); can translate this into profitable growth and measurable results.
•Instinct and passion for great product (taste level), strong product point of view.
•Strong analytical skills and financial acumen; demonstrated by the ability to analyze situations and make recommendations that are consist with the brand; critical thinker.
•Self-motivated – pushes self to perform at a higher level which in return delivers recognition and inspires others.
•Flexible/nimble – continuously analyzes and reacts to the business landscape; can rally the team or quickly alter course if necessary.
•Demonstrated ability to take calculated business risks.
•Demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities; proven relationship builder.
•Ability to lead teams and transform/develop talent.
•Proven experience working cross functionally.
•Exceptional presentation skills (ability to tell the story).
