Sometimes You Just Gotta Say It!
by Ken Proctor
So so so true!! Thanks to Ken for letting me know that I inspired this weeks article as well…
I have to say this is something I say to myself often….basically if you are thinking about doing something there is a reason and it is up to YOU to decide to make the move to do it. It will not happen magically….BUT if you follow your gut and say, “What the F&*^??”….You might find that magic does happen and you will certainly enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes along with taking a risk…even if it doesn’t work out perfectly right away. There is no reason not do do something because of fear….we all have fear…but some of us are far too curious to let that keep us from discovering what life has to offer….I will speak for myself on that point!
When I am afraid of something it kind of makes me want to do it all that much more because I don’t like letting my own insecurities control my path…wait…I mean I WON’T let my own insecurities control my path!!

Sometimes you just got to say it!
A few weeks ago, I wrote about a line from one of my favorite flicks; Jerry Maguire. I was truly overwhelmed with the emails I received from that particular posting. Apparently, many of you were inspired by how one achieves greatness(“hang your balls out there”), so I felt it appropriate to give directions on how to begin the journey.
The film is now 28 years old but the line of “Sometimes, you just gotta say..what the f—” really resonates with me.
I think a lot of our industry is in a rut. We are scared rabbits afraid of change. Change is difficult because it involves risk and who wants risk now in their lives? Lets play it safe. Lets stick with what we know. Things are fragile. Don’t rock the boat. “I don’t want to make a mistake and jeopardize my future”! We have all said it.
Miles is right. Saying WTF gives you freedom, and freedom brings opportunity. Opportunity makes your future. Today, at the encouragement of my design team, I met with a new factory here in Mexico. At first I said no because I am pleased with my sourcing partner. But for some reason, the more I thought about it, the more I decided that I needed to open my eyes a bit more. WTF, I went!
During the meeting, I discovered a new construction for Twig that I think shows promise and a lot of opportunity for our brand. If I seize this opportunity, it will cause and un-budgeted expense as well as cause more logistical challenges. This evening, I went out for a walk and thought about it. I must admit that I had decision paralysis. Is it logical? Will it create a positive ROI? Will it work? Sometimes you just got to say it.
For anyone looking for a job, or discouraged, or looking to improve their business. Take the attitude.
Opportunity makes your future!
