Takken’s Shoes – Not your every day retailer!
by JULIA

I noticed something different about the twitter feeds coming from Takken’s. Rather than promoting what shoes they have on sale, they often post links and share news about issues in their community and accross the country. Everything from the economy to crime. It caught my eye and I was curious to find out more about them. I was able to get on a call with Cris and Marc Takken and Rachel Miller who is the person behind…

heels.com and my home town!!
by JULIA

Linda McCoy, co-founder of heels.com…..hard at work and check out those shoes!!   I remember first coming across heels.com last year as I was searching for a very specific pair of shoes that I needed for an event I had coming up. I realized the site was new and immediately added it to my favorites list. What I liked about the site as a consumer was that it was simple, well designed, easy to navigate, visually appeal…

Lori’s Shoe Blog
by JULIA

I came across Lori’s Shoe Blog while browsing on Twitter (which btw I am finally getting and have been introduced to so many new cool people!!) and I just wanted to make a little mention because I really think the design of her site is great. It is clean, organized and very easy to navigate. Not what you usually see from a small online store. According to her website, she opened her store in Chicago in 1983 right out o…

Video of the Day-Heels.com and L.A.M.B.
by JULIA

What a great idea! I noticed recently that heels.com now features fashion shows for some of it’s brands. What a better way to entice a shopper to buy the shoe that they have been buying. It’s almost as good as trying the shoe on yourself! I would think that for a designer/sales rep, this is a cool way to partner with a retailer in an effort to increase sales. They do a great job showing fit and design of each shoe!…

Tootsie’s, By Jorge The Intern
by Jorge the Intern

We all remember that oh so delicious candy back in the day. That chewy, chocolate, candy that comes to mind every time I pass a convenience store; with songs after it and all – Tootsie Roll. Speaking of which, there’s a sweet little salon that is just as soothing and comfortable as the Havaiana flip flops they sell on the smooth sand of Miami Beach where they’re at. The name is Tootsie’s and there is no better word to describ…

Grant and Catherine at Stuart Weitzman are the coolest!
by JULIA

Grant Pilon-I don’t care what Catherine says about his necklace….he’s alright in my book! Yesterday was a great day! I was the lucky winner of the FIRST prize raffle basket at the TwoTen young professionals event in NYC during Ffany week and one of the prizes was a gift certificate to Stuart Weitzman. Yesterday I decided I would go check out the store in Aventura Mall here in Miami and to my great fort…

Galleria on Lincoln, By Jorge the Intern
by Jorge the Intern

Along the sides of the famous, and much walked, Lincoln Road in South Beach, Miami are stores of every taste and texture any pedestrian shopper could possibly want. Almost as a garden, littered with a unique beds of flowers are the many salons, boutiques, restaurants, and galleries. One gallery in particular, Galleria, is a “must-see” for complete wardrobe and fashion advice. “I’ve been in fashion for over 20 years…

Visit to Aerosoles in New Orleans, by Jorge Santana
by Jorge the Intern

The third store Jorge decided to visit is Aerosoles. So thanks to Jorge we got a glimpse into a locally owned boutique then two national chains.  What I noticed with all three of the people he met is that they seem to be optimistic and positive which is not only great, but very necessary!! Thanks to Jorge and all of the participants for bringing us a glimpse of the New Orleans retail world! -Julia Aerosoles-Being a woman is…

The Walking Company
by Jorge the Intern

This is the second store Jorge visited for us. We have one more coming to you shortly! I have heard a lot about The Walking Company but actually have never been in one of their stores….I am thinking Jorge is a keeper! Strolling along the RiverWalk in Downtown is definitely one of the finer things to do here in New Orleans. Keep on strolling through and you’ll land your feet right in the gorgeous riverside mall wher…

Jorge is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana University to obtain his degree in Finance. Jorge will be relocating to Miami this summer and expressed a great interest in working with us, so we put him to work! We wanted to see if he had what it took to be a part of our ambitious team…..well he…

Dan Mauney, his new “dress” code and his store Step by Sloan
by JULIA

My dear friend Dan owns a shoe store in Charlotte, NC where I used to live. I have asked him countless times to contribute to Shoebiz and it has now become a running joke that he will always send me something “asap”, yet nothing ever arrives. This is especially humorous because Dan is very active on his facebook page, so the “I don’t have time” excuse doesn’t work. So….today Dan decided to tag me in this lovely…
